Kuznetsov

The Kuznetsov dynasty built the largest porcelain empire of the Russian Empire: by 1900 the 'Partnership of M.S. Kuznetsov' owned eight factories and produced two thirds of all Russian porcelain and faience. Kuznetsov understood every market at once — Grand Prix showpieces in Paris in 1900, sturdy tavern teaware, Oriental-style bowls for Central Asia, and the gilded 'merchant style' that still defines the Russian tea table in the popular imagination.

For collectors, Kuznetsov is a study in range rather than rarity: marks vary by factory town — Dulyovo, Riga, Tver and more — and dating rests on the form of the imperial eagle and the wording of the partnership stamp. After 1917 the factories were nationalised; Dulyovo remains at work today.
